overview

This 9 days, 8 nights Tanzania safari is a perfect blend of wildlife adventure, cultural exploration, and tropical beach relaxation. Your journey begins with thrilling game drives in Mikumi National Park, known as the “mini Serengeti” for its rich biodiversity. From there, you will head to the legendary Serengeti National Park, a land of endless plains and home to the Great Wildebeest Migration, big cats, and spectacular predator-prey interactions. Next, venture into the vast wilderness of Selous National Park (now Nyerere National Park), one of Africa’s largest and most remote reserves, where boat safaris on the Rufiji River offer a unique perspective of hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife. After your wildlife adventures, fly to Zanzibar, where two days in historic Stone Town and along pristine beaches await. Finally, your safari concludes with a full-day retreat at the Nakupenda Sandbank, a paradise of turquoise waters, snorkeling, and fresh seafood feasts. This carefully crafted itinerary combines Tanzania’s greatest safari destinations and Zanzibar’s coastal charm, making it ideal for travelers who want the best of both worlds.

Day 1:
Mikumi National Park

Arrive in Dar es Salaam and transfer to Mikumi National Park. After check-in and lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive through the park’s sweeping savannahs. Look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and lions roaming freely across the plains. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge in Mikumi.

Day 2:
Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, catch a flight or drive to the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at your lodge before heading out for your first game drive. The Serengeti is teeming with wildlife, including prides of lions, leopards, elephants, and herds of wildebeests stretching across the horizon. Dinner and overnight in Serengeti.

Day 3:
Full-Day Safari in Serengeti

Dedicate the entire day to exploring the Serengeti’s endless plains. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeests and zebras move across the landscape in search of fresh grazing. Your guide will also help you track cheetahs, giraffes, buffalo, and countless bird species. Picnic lunch will be served in the wild before continuing your adventure. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4:
Transfer to Selous National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Selous National Park, one of Africa’s largest wilderness reserves. After check-in and lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive where elephants, buffaloes, lions, and antelopes dominate the landscapes. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp inside the park.

Day 5:
Boat Safari and Game Drive

Start your day with a boat safari along the Rufiji River, where crocodiles, hippos, and waterbirds thrive. Later, embark on a full-day game drive across the park’s diverse habitats, from open grasslands to miombo woodlands. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed before continuing your exploration. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight in Selous.

Day 6:
Flight to Zanzibar

After breakfast, fly to Zanzibar and transfer to your hotel in Stone Town. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, exploring spice markets, narrow alleyways, and historical landmarks such as the Old Fort and House of Wonders. Dinner and overnight stay in Stone Town.

Day 7:
Relaxation in Zanzibar

Spend the morning visiting a spice plantation, where you’ll learn about Zanzibar’s heritage of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and other aromatic spices. In the afternoon, transfer to one of Zanzibar’s pristine beaches for swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing under the sun. Dinner and overnight at a beach resort.

Day 8:
Full-Day at Nakupenda Sandbank

After breakfast, set out for a full-day excursion to the Nakupenda Sandbank, a stunning tropical paradise surrounded by turquoise waters. Enjoy snorkeling among vibrant coral reefs, relaxing on the white sands, and feasting on freshly prepared seafood. Return to your Zanzibar hotel in the evening for your final overnight stay.

Day 9:
Departure

After breakfast, take some time to enjoy a relaxed morning at your beach resort, soaking in the last views of Zanzibar’s turquoise waters and serene coastline. You may choose to unwind by the ocean, reflect on the incredible journey you’ve just experienced, or simply savor the tranquility before departure. Later, you will be transferred to Zanzibar International Airport for your onward flight.
